TECHNICAL BRIEFING
The technical briefing will take place on Saturday 28 November 2026 at 15:30 at Steni school.
MEALS
Our traditional pasta party will take place on Saturday 28 November 2026 at 16:00 at Steni school.
BIB NUMBER / TIMING CHIP
The timing chip must be attached to the front of your shoelace. Anywhere else (e.g. a pocket or backpack) the chip will not work. Your bib must be clearly visible on the front of your body, so that volunteers and race officials can see it immediately. If an athlete is not carrying their bib, or their time is not recorded because the chip was attached incorrectly, their participation will be considered invalid.
START TIMES / START PROCEDURE
The Big Bear Downhill 4km starts at 14:00 on Saturday 28 November 2026 at Syka ridge, at about km 9 of the Iraios Athlos 30km course. The organisation will take athletes to the start by bus, leaving Steni school at 13:15.
The races on Sunday 29 November 2026 start at the following times:
– Iraios Athlos 30km: 09:00
– Dirfys Paths 15km: 09:30 (start in groups)
– Paths of Katzou 5km: 09:45 (start in groups)
– Children’s race 1,000m: 10:00
RACE INTERRUPTION
The race may only be stopped in case of extreme weather (strong, long-lasting storms). If this happens during the race, the organisation will inform participants by every possible means. Participants will then be taken to the start/finish area.
TIME LIMITS – CUT-OFFS – DISQUALIFICATION
There are no cut-off times in the Dirfys Paths 15km, Paths of Katzou 5km and Big Bear Downhill 4km races.
The Iraios Athlos 30km has three cut-off times:

– 5:30 hours at 26.6 km, at the “Sideritis” aid station (CP6)
– 6:30 hours at the finish
Athletes who reach a station after the cut-off time must hand in their bib and follow the organisers’ instructions to return safely to Steni.

EQUIPMENT
Mandatory equipment
For Iraios Athlos 30km and Dirfys Paths 15km:
- Emergency foil blanket
- Waterproof windproof jacket
Recommended equipment
For all races.
Mountain weather changes quickly, and sunshine can easily turn into heavy rain. Your personal equipment should therefore include:
- Hat
- Gloves
- Bandana / buff
MANDATORY EQUIPMENT CHECK
Checks will be carried out on a random sample of athletes at one aid station, which will be kept secret. Athletes without the mandatory equipment are automatically disqualified and must hand in their bib immediately.
ORGANISATION PHONES
The organisation’s phone numbers are +30 694 691 8465, +30 698 711 2069 and +30 694 947 2442. They are available to athletes who face any kind of problem during the race. These numbers are for emergencies only; we kindly ask athletes’ relatives not to call to check on their runner.
USE OF POLES
Poles are allowed from the start. As they are not mandatory equipment, we do not check whether athletes carry them all the time or leave them somewhere to pick up later.
COURSE MARKING
The main marking is orange and red paint on trees and rocks. In addition, there is yellow-and-black tape, mostly hanging from tree branches at key points and junctions, small plastic signs and boards, and white arrows on the asphalt. If you see none of these for at least 500 metres, you have probably gone off course; go back to the last marker.

LITTER
Respect the mountain: keep your litter with you and do not throw it on the trail. Anyone caught littering will be permanently banned from the event.
PENALTIES
An athlete is disqualified for the following reasons:
- Missing a checkpoint
- Not carrying the mandatory equipment
- Littering on the course
INJURY TRANSPORT
In case of injury, transport to Steni or to a hospital is provided by the competent services, always at the injured athlete’s own expense. The organisation is not a public service and does not cover costs that are not its responsibility.
